Esugen’s painting and drawing process revolves around life and imagination as a way to fully articulate the different layers of the mind through impulse and intuition. Through technique, she believes painting is a visual form of music, having composed a rhythm through the body from the conscious and subconsciousness.
She aims to have a pre-oedipal language of the mother tounge where paint becomes a mantra to being. She hones the idea of semiotic chora described as a space of heterogeneity, drives, and passions that exists prior to the clear subject-object distinctions and stable meaning of symbolic order.
